I’m excited to share this mini Sunday musings series as I unpack some of the musings I wrote in my journals many years ago (pre-married and mum life). It’s been fascinating to read back those thoughts as I either shared pretty mundane life stuff or had a good go at some artistic creative writing.
Either way, today’s musings is something I wrote about feeling happy. As always read to the end to read what I took from it today.
And if you haven’t read the #1 in this series, why not start there first and come back here, I’ll be waiting!
Note to self: Feeling Happy
I feel really happy right now.
You know that happiness that doesn’t belong to a situation, or a person, or a place?
It’s just an emotion that belongs solely to you.
It’s not been brought on by something directly, at least you can’t see the correlation.
You however find yourself smiling incessantly.
That grin beaming wide. You giggle. You feel content.
Happiness – a glimpse of what that emotion is in its purest form, even for those five seconds, you feel it arching its back, pushing its way to your feet making them curl up.
You quickly straighten them back out as you lay on your back, head up to the ceiling, laughing and feeling damn good.
I can’t stop smiling
Reading this made me smile so much. I can just imagine the joy in those words as I wrote them and how I must have felt at the time. It’s also interesting to read how it was the discovery of it coming more from within than external that caused me to write these musings in the first place which leads me to what I take from this today:
- Happiness is not a constant emotion, it comes and it goes so enjoy it when it arrives
- Happiness does not need to be from things or people, but the purest of it all is the happiness that creeps up without not real trigger at all, it just is
- Happiness is my daughter, my husband, my life right now. As much as we can moan about things always, it’s not until you read something like this that you feel even more gratitude that these moments happen more often than not.
What makes you happy today?
How we feel about motherhood is so important. When I struggled at the start, happiness was not an emotion I was seeking. Learn more about that Being mindful of your mind post pregnancy
