We are finally having a bit of summer which makes you want to get out more and fill those long days with adventure. Self care should be easy right but it can be challenging still to prioritise self care just for you. Here are some tips to glow up this summer while it lasts:
1. Morning routine
What do you do to really kick start your day? Is it a peaceful cuppa before the kiddies wake? Some meditation or gentle stretches? Having a moment of quiet can help set a positive tone to the rest of your day, allowing you to stay centred in the middle of chaos.
2. Keep hydrated
This is always on a self care list since that lifeline of water can help in so many ways! Especially on those warmer days. You’ll feel more switched on and your body will thank you for it too.
3. Take your workouts outside
Nicer climate, why not exercise outside! A morning jog, a yoga session in the garden or a family bike ride can be a great way to stay active while soaking up the rays.
4. Make it nutritious
Hot weather makes me not want to eat. So if you’re anything like me opt for lighter and smaller meals – salads, fruits, smoothies and pasta dishes are great.
5. Protect your skin
Be sure to take care of yourself by protecting your skin from harsh rays – sunscreen, wearing a hat, and sunglasses – and enjoy all that sunshine.
6. Make way for ‘me moments’
Even in the midst of family activities, make time for yourself. Whether it’s reading a book, taking a leisurely bath, or simply enjoying a quiet moment, these little breaks can rejuvenate your spirit.
7. Outsource or delegate it
You don’t have to do it all alone. Delegate age-appropriate tasks to your children, involve your partner, or consider hiring help for tasks that are particularly time-consuming. Self care can be less not doing more.
8. Keep it simple
Summer self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate. It can be as simple as enjoying a picnic with your family, watching a sunset, or having a DIY spa night at home.
9. Be more mindful
Do you love the smell of summer? That waft takes me back to so many fond memories. Amidst the chaos, practice mindfulness. Engage your senses – feel the sand between your toes, listen to the sounds of nature, and truly savor those summer moments.
10. Find time to connect with others
Summer provides ample opportunities for socialising. Schedule playdates for your kids and use the time to connect with other moms. Sharing experiences and laughter can be incredibly uplifting.
Ready to glow up?
Remember that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s essential for your well-being and your ability to care for your family. By incorporating these self-care tips into your routine, you can navigate the summer months with a positive mindset and can embrace the sun while ensuring you shine just as brightly from within.
