You’re having a baby and you’re excited about the months to come. The question that might cross your mind or already has crossed it even before you became pregnant is whether or not you will have a baby shower to celebrate the soon arrival of your little one into this world.
The thing about today’s world is that when it comes to pregnancies, there are a lot of things that are hashtag trending and baby showers is one of them.
I don’t recall attending baby showers in the past however as of recent (and that could do with age), they are popping up and have become more and more elaborate than ever!
It is almost akin to a birthday party, just think balloon arches, catering, a venue and even goodie bags for guests.
If you love to throw a party then a baby shower is another reason to bring together your loved ones.
Here are a few things to consider before you launch yourself into planning as well as some alternatives if the baby shower thing is just not your bag.
1. Can you get someone else to organise?
The tiredness in that third trimester for some can be unreal, so the last thing you want to be doing is planning a baby shower on top of everything else. Outsourcing this exciting event can be the exact thing to it being fun. You’re a guest that just shows up and the rest (including the costs) is all covered for you.
2. Keep it small
If you’ve ever tried to plan a birthday party or a wedding then you’ll know how guest lists can quickly spiral out of control. This can make the event feel overwhelming and not as personal as you may like. Think about keeping the event small so you can really connect with everyone there.
3. Make a wish list
If you do throw one then be sure to make a wish list. This takes the stress away for both you and your guests. It is an absolute win win situation, ensuring you don’t get double of the same thing and that you’ll have lots of gifts that will help you on your way.
