I can’t even begin to imagine life with my daughter without the flexibility that hybrid working can afford.
I absolutely and totally bow down to all mothers before who have had to rush off from work to pick up their children before the nursery charges you a late pick up fee.
I personally have benefitted from hybrid working and I have heard from other mums what an incredible experience it has been.
It’s not a nice to have now, it is essential.
So here are a few things I’ve enjoyed most about hybrid working:
More quality time with my daughter
It’s a win win situation, I get to spend more time with my daughter in the morning and evenings while being able to bring my whole self to work (not fretting about running late for work starting or the pick up).
In close vicinity for all eventualities
One thing that happens at nursery is that things suddenly occur – heatwave, it’s too hot come and pick them up/ temperature, she’s not well so come and pick her up/ lack of staff, please come and pick her up. Whatever the eventuality, being at home means being close by to pick up with ease. One less stress.
Less stress, more freedom
What I love most is the way in which the stresses I once had through the commute have now eased because I don’t have to be up and out by a certain time. I’m not rushing back home either. It provides a freedom to be your own boss. It’s a great opportunity to instil self care, making sure to switch off each day after work.
Preparation made easy
I can’t believe how much working from home helps to free up time from other chores. For example, I can get a washing done and out on the line before work begins. I can use my lunch break to prepare my daughters dinner or put out her bedtime bits ready for her return from nursery. It honestly alleviates the stress while creating a routine that supports family life.
If you are able to work from home, what have you embraced the most as a working mother?
