If you love to read then you’ll no doubt enjoy the hunt for a new book just as much. There is the obvious online but also offline places to discover your next read.
Here is a list of ten places to explore to find your next read based on places I go to. Where do you find the books you read?
If you’re a busy parent, it’s difficult to find times to read. I am seriously struggling. Try these tips to get that reading mojo back up and running!
Amazon’s very beginnings was a humble online bookstore and now it does this so competitively. It is a super giant so some people love it and others hate it.
Whatever your view point, you’ll be able to find an incredible range of books available on the website that are both new and used.
In addition, there are also audiobooks and Kindle options to choose from too.
2. Bookshop.org
This website is dedicated to supporting the local bookstore. You can search vua postcode to find local bookstores to purchase from direct or so you can purchasw direct from bookshop org where a percentage of the proceeds go back into supporting local booksellers.
3. The Works
It is a bit of a jumble shop selling kids toys, arts and crafts and books! I love it and have often found fantastic books at good prices in the shop.
It has a physical retail store as well as online presence too enabling you to click and collect. It won’t have an extensive range of recent books but you’ll be surprised by what they do have.
4. Waterstones
I do love a Waterstones with a cafe onsite, it combines two of my favourite things reading and eating. It is the bookshop to come to if you want to get your hands on the latest releases and prize winners.
They often do a wrapped up book lottery, where you can pick up a book that you don’t know what’s inside. A sort of book roulette of sorts!
Plus they have book signings on occasion.
If you’re looking for a book at a discount then world of books sells second hand books. You can also donate old books to them too. You won’t find everything but they have a pretty extensive range so most areas are covered.
6. Foyles
Another ‘high street’ bookshop that is a great place to peruse the shelves. I really enjoy their window displays and team visits to this bookshop with trips into the city.
7. Library
I recall such fond memories of my local library and continued to go now and then as an adult. As a mum, I’ve got my library card as I can’t wait to share this experience with my daughter. The fantastic thing about a library is the access to free books. It is so worth it especially when you’re part of a book club and need to buy books you wouldn’t typically read.
8. Charity Shops
I admit I can spend so much time browsing the book shelves in charity shops. I remember one that I went to that was dedicated entirely to books. You could get lost in it. Another place you can donate old books too as well as find some interesting reads at affordable prices.
9. Local Bookstore
Seek out any independent local bookstores and support them by getting your books there. You can use bookshop.org to find them or a simple google search. There are some wonderful and cute spots to discover.
10. Friends and Family
I don’t know about you but I find I have lots of books on my shelf that I’ve read once and I’m unlikely to read again, so sharing them with friends and family is a fantastic way to spread the love. There are books I’d lend out and books I’m happy to give away.
Where else do you go to find your next read?
